The Whisper of the Potmarge - The hidden gem of Leeuwarden
The green area „The Potmarge“ is a hidden gem in the middle of the city of Leeuwarden. It cancels out the loudness and stress of the busy city and creates a perfect spot for escapism. A green Oasis that tells the history, the present and the future of those who were there long before us: the trees. This is the reason why “The Whispergarden” was created. A place to seek refuge in a loud and deafening world. It is a safe space with sounds and stories told by the trees in the area and to have a deeper understanding of what they feel, hear, see, and experience. “The Whispergarden” is a temporary project, with re-used trees, to bring the people closer to nature during the 100 days event “BOSK”.
Legacy
To give back to nature, “the Whisper Garden” in collaboration with BOSK would plant 50 new trees in that area. It is important to create a legacy that would remember the stories that the trees are telling for centuries. Therefore, the new trees will tell the stories of today and tomorrow. And hopefully for the rest of the time!

Supping/Canoeing
You can go supping or canoeing on the Potmarge for free via the Whispergarden. A guide also accompanies a Whispergarden sup tour. Requests can be made via:

“Experience the Potmarge through the water! Experience what it is like to be silent in a whisper boat from sound from the environment/city to silence and to experience how you can reconnect with nature through sound art.”
•WALK or BOAT TOUR•
Until the 17th of June, you can do a guided tour including audio on request. After June 17, you can experience the audio tour daily with your own phone and earphones/headset.
Specific tours on request: sunrise and sunset and group tour with a praamboat.

WATERMEGAPHONE

The Watermegaphone is a musical work of art and stands for the connection between people and is a playful invitation to experience it. The work of art is a musical instrument that can be played by passers-by. The passer-by plays the work of art by striking it in various ways. The Watermegaphone starts to vibrate and plays tones, which are accentuated, as water is in the artwork.
SOUND FOREST

Interactive art project by Teodóra Róka and Depy Antoniou. During the 100 days, visitors can add metal leaves to bring the tree to life. Grow the sound forest by adding metal leaves yourself!
